Why ThinkImpact?

Why do we do what we do?

ThinkImpact is developing economies with new thinking.

What exactly does ThinkImpact offer?

The Innovation Institute is an 8-week total immersion social entrepreneurship education program in rural communities in Africa’s developing economies.

Who is ThinkImpact?

ThinkImpact is not your standard organization. We are at the cutting edge, where academics, innovation, study abroad, and entrepreneurship converge to solve the most important mission of our time: the end of poverty.

Who’s Going on the Innovation Institute?

You! College students and young professionals seeking life-changing experiences in communities in Africa are invited to apply. Participants become known as “scholars” on the Institute.

Where does ThinkImpact work?

We identify rural communities in Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa where students have been invited to live and work alongside community members. A typical village where we work has a population of 1,500 people. Our trained country coordinators identify communities and assess the village’s safety record, ability to host guests and willingness to participate in ThinkImpact’s program.

When is the Innovation Institute?

The Innovation Institute is offered each summer. The 2012 program calendar is June 20 through August 12. ThinkImpact also facilitates short programs for MBA students during the academic calendar year.

How can I go?

College students and young professionals are invited to apply by December 20th for early admission consideration. Applying in the first round is recommended and increases your likelihood for admission. Second round applications are due by February 22nd. Applications are reviewed and interviews are extended to select applicants. After an interview, selection notification follows within 2 weeks. Selected scholars are provided extensive pre-departure training and information, including an online e-learning course.
